Although some historians theorize that the Irish potato famine was set into motion by the Potato Gun, this ballistic wonder was originally introduced in the Great Vegetable Wars of 1788. The soldiers of starch stuck the tip of the gun into a raw potato, broke off a small pellet, and pulled the trigger to fire the carbohydrate cannon. They were able to get hundreds of shots from a single potato, which gave them a definite edge in warfare. Each red and black gun measures 6 1/2 inch and is made of durable plastic. Potatoes not included. |
